Liquid silicone rubber(LSR) is composed of siloxane bonds and has a unique inorganic backbone that does not interact with biomaterials and the ability to combine with other organic groups, allowing it to provide designers and manufacturers with many superior properties for demanding applications, offers more benefits than Other elastomers. Here are some of its classic properties:


Temperature resistance: Its excellent temperature resistance is one of its greatest characteristics. It provides greater stability, mechanical properties and strength over a wider temperature range (-60C° to 250C°) and resistance to radiation and ozone damage than many polymeric materials.


Biocompatibility: LSR materials have passed a large number of tests and show preeminent compatibility with human body fluids and tissues. It is ideal for use in products that come into contact with the skin because of its hypoallergenic and non-toxic properties. Additionally, in contrast to many materials, it has unique antimicrobial properties, meaning it will not contaminate or corrode other elastomers.


Odorless and Tasteless: LSR is known for being odorless and tasteless, making it the first choice in many critical applications, especially demanding baby products and food packaging containers, as it does not retain the flavor of food and alter the food when in contact with it characteristic. As a result, ingredient manufacturers can easily formulate LSR materials to meet stringent Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards for specific applications.


Durable: LSR parts can withstand wide temperature swings and resist UV rays with excellent performance, making liquid silicone rubber widely used in manufacturing automotive and outdoor parts that need to withstand extreme temperatures and UV rays.


Mechanical properties: Compared with other ordinary materials, silicone materials show better tensile strength, tear strength, flexibility, and elongation. It is also available in commonly used hardnesses: 5 to 80 Shore A.


Chemical resistance: Not only does LSR not react with chemical solutions such as acids, alkalis, etc., but it is also resistant to oxidation and water. Therefore LSR parts can be sterilized using a variety of techniques. These technologies are steam autoclaving, ethylene oxide (ETO), gamma rays, and electron beams, and many other technologies compatible with medical and healthcare products.


Pigmentation and Transparency: It should be noted that the Liquid Silicone Rubber material is translucent. It is typically white in its unpigmented state and can be used to color finished products clear or custom molded products.



Electrical Properties: LSR components are good insulators because LSR has excellent insulation properties. Therefore LSR is commonly used in various electrical applications. Compared with general insulating materials, this material exhibits higher ability to low and high temperatures.
